Onboarding procedures vary wildly from hand-holding to sink-or-swim tactics, but a successful onboarding experience not only helps new hires feel welcome, but also improves job performance, satisfaction, and retention. The Onboarding Training Grid provides a structured framework for a flexible onboarding experience that quickly integrates new hires into their team while giving them the tools to navigate their new organization and job responsibilities.

The presenters will share a structured onboarding training grid that was successfully implemented in an academic library and discuss the results of an assessment survey. Attendees will be able to apply the onboarding grid to their own library, whether they are a manager or a recent new hire themselves.
