I Know a Man ... Ashley Bryan (2016, 37 min.) A film by Richard Kane and Robert Shetterly about the 94-year-old creative wonder, Ashley Bryan.  Ashley is a New York Public Library Literary Lion, many time winner of the Coretta Scott King award, and a 2017 Newbury Honor winner for his latest book Freedom Over Me.  He has been using art his entire life to celebrate joy, mediate the darkness of war and racism, explore the mysteries of faith, and create loving community and is a poet/illustrator of over 50 children's books inspired by his African heritage.  The film I Know a Man ... Ashley Bryan has been selected for 15 film festivals worldwide and has been star reviewed by the American Library Association, Library Journal, School Library Journal, Booklist among many others saying:  “The film is ... a wonderful tool to learn about diversity, cultural competency, inclusion and social justice.” (ALA)  His life story and the art he makes from this wellspring of experience is an inspiration to people of all ages.
