Welcome to the Department of Information Science at the University of North Texas. The department is part of the
College of Information which was formed in October 2008 and became a member of the
iSchools in 2009 and a member of the
iCaucus in 2015.
The department offers programs at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels. Our programs are nationally recognized. The Master of Science program is accredited by the
American Library Association. The
School Library Media Certification is ranked eighth in the nation and the
Health Informatics program is ranked sixth in the nation. We also offer the
nation’s largest interdisciplinary PhD program in Information Science.
The Department of Information Science is constantly evolving to meet the ever-changing needs of the information and knowledge profession. We are dedicated to providing a challenging and nurturing environment for our students. Our commitment to quality education and community outreach are some of the guiding principles to our approach in educating and preparing thoughtful and effective leaders in the Information Science field.
